Shivapuri Watershed and Wildlife Reserve situated about 20 km north of Kathmandu is the best spot to make a day hike or a bird watching trip. A combination visit of Budhanilkantha, the holy site of the sleeping god Vishnu is a worth taking a trip to anyone who has not much time to go around. You will enjoy a moderate hike with your guide through the woodlands of Shivapuri National Park to Nagi Gompa, a hilltop Buddhist monastery where panoramic views of the Kathmandu valley abound can be seen. After spending time with Nun, having lunch snapping some unforgettable photos, descend down the hill and continue hiking through the woodlands, past waterfalls and out of the forest until you reach bus stand where our bus will be waiting for you. For those who are interested in birding, this is the best place to be in. Some of the birds in the area are the Laughing Thrush, Crested Serpent Eagle, little Pied Fly Catchers, Babblers, Pheasants, Magpies, Sunbirds, Ruby and many more.
