This small travel agency Footmark adventures (www.footmarktravels.com) helped me to have a great personalized trip in the Kathmandu Valley Feb. 9 thru 17 2018. I had about 5 days before and after (and some free time during) a conference in Kathmandu. While their preliminary English email correspondence was not so clear, on the ground they found for me excellent cars and drivers and then local English speaking guides for this solo older woman (sometimes with a friend) with deep interests in art, history and religion (and not a lot of time). Footmark's Anu provided special personal attention including visiting a school and a local family. They arranged a fascinating guide who took me around all day at the Hindu Pashupatinath temple complex right before the big annual festival. Other days he or Anu took me around Kathmandu city (palace, temples, squares, i even saw the "living goddess "at her window) and shared secrets of the local market (salt, women’s wages, local veggies, brass food vessel craftsman ). Footmark arranged a cultural dinner for three if us women with traditional food, music and dancing (and another evening after dinner at a local eatery, a photo shoot at a traditional wedding reception). Footmark contracted another excellent guide and car for a day trip to Patan and Bhaktapur. My only regret is that the agency did not warm me about museums and shops being closed on (for me unexpected) national holidays or the Tibetan New Year. Footmark also arranged a reasonably priced “mountain viewing flight” (absolutely worth the early morning departure and 8 seater plane to see beautiful Everest) and at the end of my stay in Nepal, arranged a domestic flight, car pickup and good local guide for Lumbini. Footmark is honest and reliably delivered on all my requests....
